New Jersey reaction to President Obama's address to the Muslim world:

"As a Muslim American, it was a great feeling to have our president go overseas and to say to the rest of the world that it's a new beginning, we are not going to use fear and hate, but we're going to be using progress; asking people to open their hearts so that we can all, as human beings, live together." , Sohail Mohammed, an Indian-born Muslim who works as an immigration attorney in Clifton.

,,,

"From what I've heard so far and seen in the paper, it's extremely powerful. It's building bridges with the Muslim community, it's a breath of fresh air, and it's an administration looking for cross-pollinating civilizations, as opposed to clashing civilizations." , Mohamed El Filali, a Moroccan-born Muslim who is outreach director for the Islamic Center of Passaic County.

,,,

"Like the 'I have a Dream' speech, the Martin Luther King dream speech for African-Americans, this will be one of those momentous speeches in Muslim American history that students will read about several years down the line. It's basically almost like the Muslim-American community has arrived, and has not only arrived , is there." , Amaney Jamal, an Arab American Muslim and an assistant professor of politics at Princeton University.
